How to Setup Google Analytics on WIX

Google Analytics is a FREE web analytics tool offered by Google to help you analyze your website traffic. It's really easy to install and the best part is, you can see how your customers interact with your website, where they come from (e.g. Local Search Results, Google Ads, Email Campaign). It's a great Tracking Tool all-around.

How To Setup Google Analytics On WIX

Google Analytics puts several lines of tracking code into your website. The code records the various activities of your users when they visit your website, along with the attributes (such as age, gender, interests) of those users. It then sends all that information to the GA (Google Analytics) server once the user exits your website.

Next, Google Analytics aggregates the data collected from your website in multiple ways, primarily by Four Levels:

  1. User level (related to actions by each user)

  2. Session level (each individual visit)

  3. Page-view level (each individual page visited)

  4. Event level (button clicks, video views, etc)

How Do I Setup Google Analytics?

Well, it's quite easy! Follow our simple guide below and you will quickly be on your way to using Google Analytics.

Step #1: Dashboard

When you login to WIX this is where you can access all your settings for your website. Today we will just be clicking on "Settings" on the left hand side.

Step #2: Settings

Now that we are in Settings, let's scroll down to where we see "Advanced". Right next to Advanced you will see "Custom Code" and that is where we will be going next.

Step #3: Custom Code

Don't worry, there is nothing scary about the term Custom Code. Google Analytics gives you the code that you will need to input, so your site will communicate with Google Analytics.

  • First, click the BLUE button that says "Add Custom Code"

  • Second, paste in the ENTIRE "Global Site Tag" that Google Analytics provides

  • Third, change the "Name" field to Google Analytics.

  • Fourth, make sure ALL PAGES are selected.

  • Fifth, click the Code Type button on the top of the pop-up window and select "Analytics".
